Tickets - The following rules apply to ticket possession and scalping as stated by Florida Law.
- Switching Tickets - Fans must be in possession of their ticket stub at all times. The sharing of tickets to obtain entrance into bloc seating areas is not permitted. Individuals must be seated in their assigned seats within the bloc.
- Ticket Scalping - Police agencies will enforce laws pertaining to the illegal resale of tickets. Florida law prohibits the resale of a ticket in excess of $1 more than the actual price of the original ticket. Individuals apprehended are subject to arrest for a misdemeanor violation.
Truth or Fiction - ways around scalping?
It has been rumored that although ticket scalping is illegal there is a way to tap dance around the law. This supposed theory is that the ticket should accompany the sale of another item, but should not be included in the price of that object. In so many words, the ticket is a gift in the sale of another object.
Is this a way around the scalping law? Well, the answer is that there is no definitive answer. Police agencies use the above stated law as their guideline for ticket scalping. Since the law is unclear related to the sale of other items accompanied by tickets it is ultimately the discretion of police agencies, which will decide if the resale of a ticket is legal or illegal.
